It was learned long ago that bicycle officers can access areas and work crowds much more effectively than officers on foot or in vehicles. The same is true for EMS personnel.  Whether it is a congested urban area, a special event with large crowds or even a search and rescue environment, bicycles are a proven, effective tool.  Patterned after successful teams throughout the U.S., League City Volunteer Emergency Medical Service just recently formed their own Bicycle Medical Team.

Currently the first Bicycle Medical Team in Galveston County, the LCVEMS group has already proven themselves effective and valuable in providing emergency medical care to the citizens of League City and the surrounding area.   Medics on bikes are also an excellent source of bicycle safety information for children.  The LCVEMS bike team as well as members of the LCPD bike team have been actively involved in bicycle rodeos and safety seminars in the local schools.  Most recently LCVEMS Bike Medics participated at Galveston's Mardi Gras celebration.
